Hello, I’m Sheryl — a devoted former Labrador owner, animal rescue and welfare volunteer, and former Senior Executive Assistant in the financial services industry in London and overseas, all of which has collectively given me the experiences and guided me 'home' to my true calling and purpose, animal care.
“A house is not a home without a dog” is a saying that deeply rings true, especially once you’ve known the love they bring. When our two gorgeous boys were no longer with us, something was missing — and becoming a member of BorrowMyDoggy, welcoming some wonderful dogs (and their lovely owners) back into our home, gently filled that space again. Alongside this, I was studying for my diploma at weekends, what I first thought would be a small part-time passion alongside my career has turned into something more. Life has a beautiful way of showing us a path — not always a straight one — and Heart for Hounds was born, feeling like the natural next chapter in a journey always led by love, compassion and respect for animals.
My vision is to create a home-boarding experience from a dog’s perspective — giving them a wonderful holiday of their own while you enjoy yours with complete peace of mind. Whether your dog loves splashing in muddy puddles, chasing scents through the forest, playing by the sea, or simply enjoying their favourite familiar walks, they’ll have a joyful and enriching time. Then it’s back home for homemade treats, calming or fun sensory enrichments, cosy rest and even a little doggy daytime TV or music if their animal instincts desire. An all round holistic, nurturing and supportive home-from-home for dogs.

Throughout my years of travelling and living abroad, alongside my career, volunteering and with animals have always been at the heart of my life. I have volunteered wherever I could for them — helping street dogs in India and Thailand, snake/reptile rescue initiatives in Singapore, animal welfare organisation in New Zealand and here in the UK as a wildlife rescue volunteer for Folly Wildlife Rescue.
My professionalism, passion, organisation and dedication for everything I do will continue to shine through at Heart for Hounds. As I learn and grow in my new vocation, listening to each dog (our greatest teachers!), pledge to put everything back into Heart for Hounds to enrich each dog that comes to stay.
When I am not looking after dogs, I enjoy being a mum to an animal loving teenager, qigong, yoga, paddle boarding, running, walking, reading, travelling experiences here and afar, friends and more .....
